History

The ancestors of this lineage were descents of Maharaja Vikramaditya Singh of Rewah. Maharaja Vikramaditya Singh granted this estate in heritage to Thakur Ranmat Singh and decided to make it his southern capital. Umaria town was established by his son. Thakur Ranmat Singh then went to Baderi with his army, but Baderi was under the rule of Lodhis (Malgujars) which was later conquered along with the fortress of Baderi and it became the southern capital of Rewah State.
